Smoke Guard® – Smoke Control for Elevator Openings
Maximizing usable space for owners and tenants can present a challenge for the
project architect. The code requirement to provide enclosed elevator lobbies can
consume hundreds of costly square feet per floor.
The Smoke Guard® System
returns usable space to the owner on every floor by
eliminating the enclosed elevator lobby, allowing the elevators to open directly
onto the corridor. The result? More efficient traffic flow and code compliant
egress paths while providing superior smoke protection to building tenants.
Maximizing usable square footage also contributes to the goals of sustainable
architecture by making the most efficient use of available space.
Concealed in the ceiling or a valance, the Smoke Guard system is deployed only
when smoke is sensed at each elevator opening, reducing nuisance deployments for
the owner. The system deploys directly onto the face of the fire-rated elevator
hoistway door frame to provide the most efficient smoke- and draft-control assembly
on the market.
